Al, good stuff.....looks like a baby. I found a clutch of 6 baby kings a few weeks back.....Jeff, I think you may know the locality.

Al, that is a very pretty king btw.....very distinct chains.

Mark, most kingsnake coil up right you find them. The only snake that doesn't do this much actually is the pine snake.

Oh is that right? cool. I assume this is the area we were discussing some time back via PM? I remember seeing a healthy # of king snakes (a clutch of newly hatched ones) in a different part of Browns mills once...maybe twice. I recall it being in the spring.

up like that because i was trying to take pics of him in my hand and he balled up when i picked hime up.Probably a defensive measure.the hand pics weren't wotking out well so I laid him back in the leaves and he retained the ball.I am not very handy with a camera but he was the most beautiful chain king I"ve ever seen.He had yellow chains instead of white.reminded me of a banana king(a genetically bred morph by hobbyists).i found him in a trail next to an irigation ditch near an old cranberry bog.Kings love swamps and water so he was in his element.
