My son called, they were supposed to have a delivery today but the driver of the delivery truck, who is new to the job, followed his GPS directions and is now stuck axle deep on some sand road a couple miles leading off of RT 72. Two recovery vehicles have been trying most of the day with no success. This would make for some good pictures. They may need one of these;

The driver did not give any specifics, I can't blame him. He did tell them the GPS indicated he make a right turn off of 72. He was headed eastbound. He was west of the GSP. There aren't that many sand roads a truck that size could turn onto. I'm guessing Old Halfway or Stevenson, they are most likely on a GPS. I passed thru that area on 72 around 3pm, but saw nothing that caught my attention.

My son drove x-country for some time, and thanks to GPS drove over some very interesting and challenging roads. His worst experience was in KY, a turn off the Daniel Boone Trail into no man's land. He called a lot that night :D

What type of delivery? Maybe you don't want to be specific, where is the delivery to?
Old Halfway and Red rd [Stevenson] were decent preceding this past winter. A lot of sand / gravel roads took a hit with the thawing frost and snow. Sooy rd could be a trap for an 18 wheeler.

GPSs like to try to kill you once in a while. Sent me up an ATV Trail in Utah one time. Finally realized I was being an idiot and pulled off a k-turn on the side of the mountain by creeping up on some big rocks (without dropping the bottom of the car onto them). Definitely the scariest bit of car trouble I've ever had, I was never so happy to drive a Subaru.

The GPS got put away in the glove box for a week after that, and I did it the old fashioned way with my AAA maps.

While GPS's have value, they're only as good as the info programmed into them by an overly "ambitious" map maker.
There should be a disclaimer permanently pinned at top of every page "common sense prevails".
