Sunset on Friday. I think I was seeing sun dogs for a few moments, which you can see in the 5th picture. After the rain passed there was a surprise. I was in such awe I could not hold the camera still. Yeah I need a wide angle... soon.

Yes, the sky was spectacular around sunset on Friday. I was out in the woods without a clear view of the sky like you had, but it still looked so cool that I went back to the house and got the camera. Took a bunch of shots including some handheld panorama's. If any of them turned out I will post.

Beautiful pictures and thanks for posting them.
Friday night's skies were some of the most vivid and beautiful that I can ever remember.
My wife and I were driving southeast through Folsom around 6:45 Friday night and there was a vertical line of gray against blue sunny skies that was just awesome.
The rainbow we saw at Route 54 x Mays Landing Road was the brightest I had ever seen and people were pulling off the road everywhere to take photos.
And me without a camera.

Nice photos, but damn those telephone poles. (Shakes fist at sky while happily typing away using the internet they bring... conflicted feeling there.)
