I hunted a beautiful piece private land in Tabernacle in 1995 where my older son get his first deer.
It was a large farm off Carranza Road but unfortunately it was adjoined by residential susdivisions in several spots.
One of the adjoiners used to post whacky signs at the end of his driveway about hunters and trespassing.
He interrupted my hunt one night and I told him I would bring a complaint against him for interfering with a lawful hunt and he backed off.
I eventually stopped hunting there because I didn't want to cause friction with my friend and his family who owned the farm and the neighbors.
I will forward this article over to the president of the NJ Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, who is also a member of my club, so that we can get a lobby together.

irector-Southern Region.This is sad, maddening, and frustating all at the same time. We had a similar problem with NIMBYs moving into the area. A housing development was built abutting a farm in Hamilton and the residents who moved in got together and tried to force the farmer to stop using propane cannons to scare away birds. I've lived in Hamilton all my life and don't even notice the cannons. They're not that loud anyway unless you're out in the field and standing right next to one. Luckily, the Right to Farm act, which is a federal law, exempts farmers from noise regulations regarding such devices. The people in the development had no chance in reversing the law, but it burns me that people have the audacity to move to an area and attempt to dictate change in such a way!

Someone needs to inform these people that it is they who are the nuisance. You know what kind of noise I don't like? The whining of yuppies who have no place in the woods that they invade.
I see this sort of thing out my way frequently and even very recently.
I do not even begrudge an individual that comes out here and constructs a domicile that looks horribly out of place. After that, just live in it and leave people alone. Those who want to live even beyond the constraints of a rural environment and want to get deep back, should accept all that comes with. It is in fact a sore topic.

I haven't spent enough time on this forum to get a read on everyone's views on firearms and hunting yet, but I'm glad to see so many who see this as a deterioration of the region's character, rather than a firearm issue. I'm a hunter myself, but I respect the views of those who aren't (except those who want to stop my hunting). Too often we let the differences in the way we enjoy the outdoors distract us from the real enemies.
