Tax Parcel Boundaries

Boyd, I may have asked this before, but in a different way. Forgive me if I repeat. You have your parcel boundary overlaid on the 2007 natural color orthophotography. Is there any way the parcels can be overlaid on the Birdseye I have on my GPS? Barring that, is there anyway I can transfer at least a south jersey version of your tax parcel with the 2007 aerial onto my GPS or my I-phone?

Of course, you would need to know how to turn these into a Garmin-compatible map. But it's certainly possible to make a Garmin .img file with a transparent background that you could use with Birdseye. One program that can do this is Mapwel. I used it a long time ago but have no idea how well it works today. Looks like they have a free trial though, so you could play around

I no longer make maps for Garmin devices and am not going to resume. Their map formats are just too limited and I don't want to support their expensive, closed products, sorry. I am doing my part by offering a growing collection of free maps in my own app. For what you want, I wonder if the best bet would be Garmin's own "Huntview" map?

Looking at the screenshots, I really can't tell what these look like however. Maybe somebody else here has experience with them? There are other companies that (evidently) make maps that show property ownership. Here's a free one, but over 10 years old, no idea how useful it would be

Thanks, I'll look into that Garmin app. BTW, when I clicked on a link in that link, I got a black screen with the words "screenconnect", and my cursor was moving by itself. I shut the computer off.

Do you still have instructions for using your app on the phone? I did not see the procedures to download in your help section. But even if I did put it on my phone, could I see my position as I move around?

Where did you see that "screenconnect"? At the Garmin link? It worked fine for me, that is really weird. Did you ever contact Garmin support and share your screen with them maybe?

On your phone, you could just go to boydsmaps.com in Safari and use it that way. But I suggest installing the app, which is really easy and only takes a few seconds. Full instructions in the mobile help file that you can access on your computer here, just scroll down to the section on installing the iOS app.

The mobile app has all the functions of the desktop version but a different user interface to make it easier to use on a small touchscreen. It works just like a gps (see the help file for the iOS location sharing settings that must be changed on your phone first). You can create waypoints by tapping the crosshairs. You can e-mail yourself .gpx files (or boydsmaps waypoint files) and import them into the mobile app. Since you have customized things on your computer, use the backup function then e-mail yourself the file. Now open the e-mail on your phone and save the file. You can then import it into to mobile version with the restore button and it will be setup just like your computer, with favorite maps, waypoints and any other settings you have changed.

When I saw this post the other day, I thought... "Did I miss the news story about hell freezing over?"

I was surprised to get decent cell service back there and we were able to use Boyd's Maps in real time to explore several topographic anomalies that proved to be charcoal mounds and a tar kiln. Thank you Boyd for all of your endless work in putting together a seamless mapping program that can be used almost anywhere to put history beneath your feet. It is truly amazing what you have done

Awesome! I put it on my phone. I'm going to have to learn to use it, but I have it all set up with GPS on and I can see I'm sitting at home. Now I can see the bounds of the USFW plots I'm on. Thanks for your help.
