Oh I know this bridge. It crosses the nescochague east of Bloody bridge. I suspect you have been there also Guy. Remember where we parked for the Great Swamp hike? It is directly oppisite there across rockwood road toward and over the nescochague. It does look very old. I suspect it was used heavily during the massive lumber industry in the area in the early 1900's. But that is just an assumption. It could pre-date that.

Jeff

So you are thinking it is this one just to the left of the arrow.

It most likely is that one. It tells us that logging was going on in the area near the canal. We need to find the Sawmill foundations :)

Interesting stuff. What is that little pond about a mile downstream on the Nesco (south side)? The Nesco does not flow through it, and it looks like there are buildings around it.

Maps are so much fun. I was surprised to see first of all that Hammonton has a Lake, and then that it discharges into a huge wild area behind the Amotol Racetrack. This big area has about 5 creeks that all discharge eventually into Hammonton Creek, and that creek dumps into Nescohague Lake. Wierd to me. I never would have thought that any water system from Hammonton would loop south then northeast and dump into the Mullica.

I think you are looking at the infamous Ace Campground. I had the opportunity to visit it before the vandalism and it was pretty cool.
