When I was about fifteen i remember finding my first pitcher plant in a bog on mill creek west of union lake.I went back with a two gallon bucket and dug up a bunch of peat muck and then dug up a plant and nestled it down in the goo.I took it home originally filled with swamp water and muck and then continued to keep it full of tap water.It lived for five years on the porch and looked like it was quite enjoying itself.No competition for one.
