All,

The Batsto Gazette in 1981 has an article about the finding of graves during the construction of the bathrooms at the recreational facility at Atsion Lake in October of 1981. These are the graves that are fenced in near the bathrooms. (The photo in the article match the gravestones in my photo's of the place)

Apparently, the graves were hidden for years until a construction crew using a trencher to run underground power lines hit the stones, and even unearthed skeletal remains which were thought to be less than 100 years old.

Budd Wilson did some excavating and determined there may be as many as 40 graves there, and they would be moved to a new location. So apparently the area between the two bathrooms is the location where they originally were and not where the fenced in area is. Anyone know more on this?

Related somewhat. Article from that era about graves at the lake.
