The Emma Cramer and Garfield Broome Stones

Nice report Guy! It was good seeing you a little later in the day. Mahlon Broome resided as caretaker in Harrisville not far away. I am sure his kids identified strongly with the land.
Always enjoy running into you as well Jeff.

I was able to view a 1959 tax map today for Washington Township Burlington County and the properties where the stones in this thread were found. It confirms that the Block and Lot numbers are the same today as in 1959. This proves there is a mistake on the deed where it mentions the wrong block and lot number which confused me as to if the deeds I have actually were for the property in question. Now I can with some confidence say that there were two lots with two different owners when the state acquired them.

Beatrice Broom of Camden sold the Arthur Garfield Broom lot to the state of NJ on 2/8/1960 and the Emma Broom Cramer lot was sold to the state on 4/14/1959. Beatrice Brooms, husband was George E. Broom who had passed away, and his will dated 1/18/1955 gave the property to Beatrice. George had acquired it from his uncle, Arthur Garfield Broom previously in his will.

Emma Broome had acquired her portion of the property from her father Mahlon Broom at his death. And Mahlon had acquired it from the heirs of George N. Batterson and George W. Batterson on 10/13/1919 and 2/18/1920.

Without proof so far it appears the property may date back to at least 4/27/1876.
