Think I"d opt for snowshoes.Just my preference. I'd lose a lot more then 18 lbs though

I thought the same thing as well as they were nutz going in winter. But thinking about it, it makes sense. Ski's are easier to travel further on and winter made sense as it removes many of the problems of warmer weather; bugs, animals, vegetation, water crossings, rain, heat and fires. It leaves just the cold to contend with, but easier traveling.
