Thanks guys. Bob, we are always amazed by the birds every time we go to Forsythe. Every time there is something different. We saw pelicans a few weeks ago!!! (Batteries died in the camera and I did not get the shot lol.
Forsythe is an awesome place. I really enjoy going there.
I'm glad to hear that the pelicans are still hanging around. I have seen them a total of two times.

Both times, they were
very far away though, and this is a difficult shot to get. These are heavily cropped in. There is a beautiful framed photo of them in the visitors center taken from close range and/or with more expensive gear than I own.
I really wonder what they are doing here, more than a thousand miles outside their typical range. If you look at the 2012 Forsythe bird brochure from the FWS, it lists the occurrence of American White Pelicans in the reserve as "accidental," which is the rarest category for observed species. Maybe someone here who knows more about birds can help explain.
