And that story is just one of many. The fact is that unions do not want people doing work for free as it may take away one of their jobs. Remember when prisoners were required to make license plates? That has been long gone, unions objected to it.

Much ado about nothing. There were liability concerns, no doubt. Kinda like me taking my weedwacker to Batsto Village. Sure it's superficially ridiculous, but the guy got himself arrested not by refusing to coperate with the police. To suggest that this silly story is indicative of the impending doom of our Nation is to completely over-react.

BTW, I do agree about the unions, deepexplorer

He should have just gone down and talk to whomever adminsters the parks and volunteer. He most likely would have been given the go ahead and got an official looking hat as thanks. :D

Thats a good one. Reminds me of another quote by a founder, Patrick Henry:

“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.”

And let's not forget the relevant quote from the great Margaret Thatcher;
"The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money."
