Thompson's Beach Camping?

I was planing on taking a trip to Thompson's beach. Then I thought it would be fun to camp there over night and wake up on the beach. Maybe catch a fish for breakfast. Sounds nice right? I want to know what you all thought of this idea.

Is this a safe thing to do? Will I wake up in the middle of the night swimming? I was planing on pitching my tent in the footprint of one of the old houses to hopefully avoid the problem of the tide reaching me.

Will my car be ok if I leave it in the parking lot over night?

Will the bugs make me wish I'd never been born?

First off it is illegal.Thats WMA state property and camping is illegal and the bay is patrolled by the coast guard so if you do it and have a fire I'd go stealth mode and try to make it invisible from the water and the parking area.
Scott is right about your car.They may think your a boater putting in on the creek and the state officials would probably not think twice if they even happened by but as to what the locals would do I don't know.If someone was crabbing there all night and realized that someone was out for the night they might do something but all in all if nothing was visible to tempt someone into breaking in your car would probably be alright.On the other hand if you could get someone to drop you off somewhere in a canoe or kayak that could be drug into the weeds and pick you up the next day that would be your best bet.
there is a nice spit to camp on east of the beach as far as you can walk up the beach that would make a nice spot and you can get behind the reeds to partially block you off from the bay and a good place to hide a yak.The prime illegal camping spot on the bay in my opinion would be egg island point.It's risky in a canoe or kayak but can be done.I used to swim two criks and walk in from fortescue,you have to cralw across tidal mud banks when the tide is down before the swime.Pretty cool when you come back to civilization and shoobies don't know what to make of you.

I've swam through mud like that in the past.You could see he had the idea after he hooked up and rolled over on his stomach.You have to lay down flat and spread your weight out and then dig your elbows in to pull with and shimmy your hips and knees back and forth for momentum.It's kinda like what they teach you in the military to get across open areas while under fire only in the mud you can pick your head up to see where your going without catching a bullet in the head.As little as he was he could've flew across that mud if he knew how.I had a buddy once upon a time who jumped on me and knocked us both into the mud for a wrestlin match.I've been hooked ever since.I was three times his size and he shoulda known better.I made him eat a good portion of it but he still seemed to think it was great fun.He never was real birte.
