Great pictures, Hawkin. That Eastern Bluebird is much different in appearance from what I remember being the Bluebirds of my youth in Indiana. They seemed larger and less round-headed. Or perhaps I am thinking of a Bluejay.

Like I posted in another spot, I'm a computer fizz rather than whiz! :) I used a format that was labeled for "message boards" not knowing what to expect. I was happy just to see a photo show up!! Are they too large? Does this mess up the forum some how? Let me know. I'll hold off posting any more until I hear back.

One of the beauties of wildlife is any aspects of racism do not exsist.

The are a bit large. Windows has a free great little program that Steve Behrens told me about called Resizer. You right click a file and you can select small, medium, and large. It changes it into another file of that size automatically. It can do many at once. I usually choose medium or large.

In actuality the site is making the photo's large. If you go directly to the location they are stored they display smaller.

Click on the photo to make it larger or smaller.

But it is best to shrink them to 800 x 600 or so or just putting the link in the post.

why don't you use this site's photo service? it's pretty easy to use, and it allows you to post medium sized image links, which work perfectly for the message board.

A lot of mine I post on my comcast web site and then link to them, so I have to resize external to this site. But, you bring up a good point.

I can’t speak for Ben but I don’t think the large photo’s cause problems for the site itself, but they do make it hard for some viewers to view or to get the page to load especially with dial-up. I agree that the larger photo’s insure your photo’s are at their highest quality; however, as you can see some members prefer the photo to display smaller when they view them. I am not taking sides but I would suggest you do as I do and try to keep them around 800 x 600. If you have some particular photo’s you want larger, by all means give them a shot. Ben has mentioned before that it is foolish to put your full size photo’s here anyway because there are people who will use them without your permission. Ask Bobpbx about his photo that he found being used on the internet. And when using full size photo’s my camera makes them at around 4MB and by using a photo editing program I can keep them the same viewable size but cut the physical size of the file by a fourth and still keep the quality. This allows 4 times as many photo to be stored on this site. You must make sure you don’t alter your original file though, just the one you upload to this site.

In the end I have to admit I would prefer my photo’s to be that large also when I post them, but I keep them smaller so the site runs as Ben has requested. He is the boss.
