All,

With Friday's long day behind me, I geared up for Saturday's adventure with Bob and Chris (Hewey). We traveled down the Cedar Creek starting at Lacey Road. We met at Bob's house at 9AM, drove to the bridge and dropped me and the equipment off, and Bob and Chris made the vehicle exchanges.

Along Lacey Road.

If you ever travel this section of the creek, stop at the benches made and installed by the Boy Scouts. This property is owned by the Forked River Mountain Coalition.

Notice the two posts in the middle of the photo. As recent as the early 1980s there was a dock there with a house right in the woods on the left. They may have been squatters or possibly owned the property; however, the state made them leave. You can still see the posts for the house since it was completely up in the air.

An almost dessert like area along the river.

We checked out the bridge's we built a month or so ago, while someone in the distance was entering the stream.

Bob always looks over aerial maps before we travel, and he saw and area in the deep woods that always is open and sandy. Obviously, we had to check it out. Here is a video of our travels to get to it from the river.

It's been along time since I did the Cedar.Started at Bamber and went all the way to lanoka Harbor.Had a real bad misadventure that trip.Poured on us at the end of the trip and then when we got to lanoka the car wouldn't run so we got some good epople to run us out to the start at bamber to our other vehicle whereupon arriving they dropped us off and then we realized that car had a falt or multiple flats,i forget but it reeked of sabotage.then the police picked us up to take us back to lanoka so we could phone home(no cells back then) and they got a call and dropped us off along side the road in the middle of nowhere.Never accept a ride from cops,if they get a call they will boot you out right there.I forget how we eventually got home but the end of the day was a mess, however the trip was gorgeous.I love that stream with it;'s crystal clear water in places quite deep and it always seems to run well.I want to go back someday.
I see you guys were doing some island bagging,my favorite sport, unfortunately hunters have found birds eye and google earth and no that these high features are prime areas for deer to bed down on or next too and i quite often find stands like this in one in the middle of nowhere and they leave me scratching my head as to how they got the materials in or ever intend to get a deer out.

It was such an awesome day for a paddle, you couldn't have asked for a better weather.
Unfortunately my camera spent most of the day in my dry sack and I only got two pictures.

A great day followed up by a few cold ones with Bob after the trip.

Please don't tell me you gave up beer and chew.

I am eating well and changed my sleep habits. I have shed 20 lbs. so far this summer, a couple more pounds and I am below 200. I am shooting for 185-190.
