Back in 2009 I found the memorial to James C. Rutherford Jr. at Rockwood. To recap he was a herper and a young explorer of the pines which you can read about if you look back through this thread. Bob met him back then in a plant class and we added his email to our PBX email list so he could attend future hikes. When Bob sent the emails out his dad informed us he had been killed in an accident.
Anyway, I was recently asked if the memorial was still there after the fire so today Jessica and I revisited it. The dike road to it is really growing over but someone is keeping the memorial alive. I would suggest if you know where it is to not go. The tick nymph (chiggers) are terrible.
