Hopewell twp! Thats right down the road from me! Oh I see it's mercer county:-(. At least they got most of their info right though breeding season for snakes has mostly been over for a couple months now and being horny doesn't make a snake meaner though being over heated will. The snake bit him no doubt because he stepped on it or right next to it and as far as I can tell from research no adult has ever died from a copperhead bite,Timer rattlers on the other hand have killed people, same venom I believe but rattlers stronger. Gorgeous snake I hope they didn't kill it.

Incident at Baldpate Mountain near the Delaware River.

This story states that the man lost strength in his legs after the bite.
Rushed to nearby Pennington Hospital.

What a typical hike looks like at that park.

Description of the park. Nearby for some of you.
Watch out for the copperheads.

I lived in Titusville and rode my horse up on the mountain a lot.

As an aside, I'd be more afraid of the ticks than the snakes there.
It's where I left my heart when I left the state. It's gorgeous. The mountain is nice to hike on, but if you're going to travel, you may as well go up to the Appalachian trail area. Well....maybe it's worth a special trip since the Howell Living History farm is at the foot of the mountain, and is very worth going to.
