VINELAND — Nearly 20 years after the first contaminated waste was removed from the former Vineland Chemical Co. site on North Mill Road, work crews have reached a milestone point, officials say.They are nearly finished excavating contaminated soil along the edges of the Blackwater Branch, a nearby stream. It’s a critical step in the progress at the city’s Superfund site, but the overall project still has several years left on its time line, Elias Rodriguez, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency spokesman, said.
