Here's a screenshot of the tax map I referenced in my initial post. The area where the forge was is labelled Historical Commission Easement. This map is from 1989 so who knows the status is these days, but it seems like the (State?) Historical Commission was doing some research/excavation/something in the area at some point.
I definitely wouldn't go back there. I drive by almost everyday and there are like 20 posted signs in that area, plus it's someone's house.

Regarding the Estell Family, the Noyes Museum just had a really great exhibit about the Estell family in Hammonton at Kramer Hall. Lots of old documents, artifacts, and portraits of the family. I took photos of it, I'll see if I can post them.
