Yup, great adventure
Rich, there is a parking area at the gate on Bombing Range road off rt539. If you go early in the morning or late in the day you will get a lot of good shots just around that area. That is what we did Wed night

Doug, have you ever tried night photography? Warren Grove is a great place to get some terrific shots in the dark. The low canopy and open plains are terrific, as you already know.

Btw - Your picture titled pineyroad2 is an outstanding image. I like the slow meander.

Years ago I gathered up some concrete blocks and stacked them up to make a photo stand off Range Road. It lets you get just a foot above the Pygmy pines and get a view. It is about 30 feet off the road but easily accessible. Found here.
