Zoning Application Fee Increased by $25; Contract Awarded to Improve Lovers Lane
The Washington Township Committee, during its Oct. 6 meeting, voted unanimously to increase the fee from $50 to $75.
1. The committee, also during the meeting, unanimously awarded a $125,700 contract to Arawak Paving Company, of Hammonton, for road improvements to Lovers Lane.
2. The governing body decided to hold off in issuing a parade permit to Meteor Motorcycle Club for an event (83rd Sandy Lane Enduro) scheduled on Nov. 29 due to concerns over COVID-19 and a fluid situation involving Democratic Governor Phil Murphy’s pandemic-related outdoor gathering limitations.
3. Additionally, Gadd declared that he is also working with Road Foreman Larry Priest to address complaints regarding Godfrey Bridge Road. “Larry and Frank (a road department employee) went down and cleared the edges of the road where it has been covered with sand and mud, etc.,” Gadd said.
4. Officials, Gadd said, also plan to address a “tree of concern” on Bulltown Road. “It is a really big oak tree, that, when it does come down, it is going to rip the electric lines down and block access to Bulltown Road during a storm,” he said, noting contractor quotes received to have it removed were anywhere from $1,200 to $2,600. “We will definitely be going with the $1,200 bid.”
