Water Conditions

Reports of Oswego River (Hawkins Bridge - Godfrey Bridge) seem to be sketchy. 20somthing'th annual Good Friday Canoe trip is planned. They are saying that some roads impassable and Godfrey's bridge camp sites are under water. Any one have any up to date info? Specifically Hawkins bridge campground, and the river conditions from Hawkins down to the county road. ???

Here is a link to the Wadings gage data 900' downstream of Godfrey bridge. Looks a tad over flood stage. The gage on the Oswego at Harrisville is similar.

I hear that Mullica Camp (Mullica River) and Lower Forge Camp (Batsto River) are closed until Monday. This is pending review of the areas later in the weekend. Godfrey's is sketchy.....Hawkins is beat to get to unless you come in from the north. Hampton Road has a total washout with a 4 foot drop at one of the culverts. No one is able to get in and work on the roads until the weather stays dry for many days and the water levels drop. If anyone has ventured to where the swamps and cricks drain in the southern portion of Wharton they would see a wrath of damage and flooding unlike anything in recent memory..... it's a total mess.

If you are considering canoes/kayaks.....call Bel Haven....they are good at keeping an eye on the river levels since they service all 4 of them in the area.... real responsible folk.

Even today many of the roads I normally drive down were flooded to the point I did not even try. I usually test the water area out but today it was easy to see I was not going to make it. I even "helped" a few of them start to drain.

It's been quite a while since the rains and the flood levels in areas are still quite surprising. I've checked and re-checked several areas and the water table is not moving anywhere right now. I'm guessing this warm weather with have to evaporate a lot of it, but it's supposed to rain again on friday.
