Last Saturday, I did a section of the Batona Trail from Batsto to Evans Bridge. Before the Bull Creek bridge, I noticed a number of bricks and brick fragments in the road way. One brick had the maker's mark visible - "SB Co". It appears this brick and possibly the others were made by the San Francisco Brick Company which operated from 1921 - 1969. Would be interesting to find out how they ended up where they are.

I'll get a picture of the brick on here once I get it to disc.

Hi TrailOtter. I posted awhile back about some bricks seen near Munyon Field that were marked as being from the S&F B Co. Turned out to be Sayer and Fisher of Sayerville. Sounds like yours were slightly different, but wanted to mention it in case they are related.

I never saw that thread until now. Seems like that happens way too much :(

Nice thread Mark, great pics. Whenever I find a brick, I have to take a closer look and see if there's a marking of some kind. I have to go back and look at the bricks I found again because next to the SB Co should be a circle with a cross in it, but I don't recollect seeing that on them.
