IMG_2765.jpgA while back Bobpbx posted this picture and asked if anyone could identify it. I couldn't find that thread but today I found out what it was. I can't remember if it was identified, Does anyone want to take guess before I tell?

I believe Bob said he felt it was a bug trap to study them. We found them on the PBX hike near Chatsworth Lake. I found the post on that hike but could not find the proper post with the photo.

hey, I know what that is. If you are a bee keeper and order bees through the mail they put the queen in that cage inside the larger cage with the rest of the bees. The bees always follow the queen so it makes it easier to place her in the new Hive. The cage is sealed with a sugar wax or something and the bees eventually eat her out of it.

My dad used to keep bees.

Ding Ding Ding, Give that man a prize! At the Green Trading Post today there was a group selling honey and they had a piece of hive with bees in glass and one of the devices. As soon as I saw it I remembered Bob's picture and asked what it was. I believe the stuff uaed to plug the one chamber was called bee's butter.
