About a month ago I was out on my motorcycle when I came across an area along route 72 with signs of old disturbance/habitation. I remebered being there before in the Pre-historic aerials years and wondering what might have been there.

Well this time I went back to historic aerials and found evidence of the structures there. I am linking the 1963 aerial as it is most clear, however, it appears there might have been something there as early as the 30's. the '51 topo indicates six (i think) structures there.

walking about the area, there is obvious clearing and grass, old bed frames old garbage in general and chimney remains. I didn't do an extensive investigation, I'll do that in the winter.

Histoic aerials indicates that there was still structure there in 1970. I was wondering if any of the older members here recall what this might have been.

Lets see if I can set that link up better. If you zoom in and move up 72 NW, there is "something else" along the same side of the road a few yards away.

That spot has been discussed here, don't recall when. I recall something about it being a dump site.

It was not there when I first visited the area around 1973 or 1974.

I don't recall it being discussed here before. If you know the thread link please direct me to it. I am not surprised that it became a dump site, but prior to that it was something. I wonder what.

Do not have the link, nor the time frame or who participated. I recall the posters talking about broken china, etc.

46er, German,
this is not the pig farm off of 72. I think that is what 46er is confusing this area with. They are not far from each other. this is someplace different and most likely not related.

German, is Cloverdale open?

The park is now closed to the public, for the duration of construction. A new visitor center will be built, intended to closely resemble the old farmhouse, as well as a maintenance garage, a separate public restroom and more defined parking. No more fishing the porta potty out of the bog on Monday mornings! :)

I suspect it was not there in 1939.

You can do a property search and find who owned it which may tell you what the place was. I doubt the info would be in Woodland Township though. It would most likely require a trip to Mt. Holly. Woodland probably would not keep info that far back because of space restrictions.

That's good advice Guy. It looks like it might be a good winter explore to see if more evidence is there.
