So there is an issue with what I wrote above. This from the NJ Mirror seems to say it may have been a radio tower.

July 6 1938

Officials of the Forest Fire Service of the Department of Conservation and Development are planning the dedication next month of a memorial to the late Colonel Leonidas Coyle, for over 25 years head of the bureau, and known as the "Flying Colonel." The marker will be erected on Route 40, about 12 miles below Four Mile Colony. Contributions of forest fire employees will pay for the monument. Ceremonies at the same time will dedicate the bureau's new landing field opposite the recently completed radio tower near the site.

I knew you'd get it. When I came upon it yesterday, I saw this first, which jogged my memory. That info on a radio tower definitely has to be run down. This below was likely an anchor for a guide wire.

I forgot that the fire cleared that area away. We should have been there right after the fire.

It does look like an anchor.

I don't know anything about the well. I was right there today and could have stopped in. Oh well! :D

There are several monitor wells all around the former BOMARC facility on the BOMARC property, Lakehurst NAS, Fort Dix, and the Colliers Mills WMA that look very similar to the one in the photo above.

Yeah, I'm wondering now. Maybe Coyle Field used to use trichloroethane to wash the grease off their aircraft parts. It's not unreasonable to think the ground water is contaminated from that.

Jess and I were near there recently. I will pass. The 2016 aerials show a vehicle there.

Where is this bridge. The two photos were taken almost 10 years apart. The second one just last week.
