The Nature Conservancy’s Pine Barrens Program is offering a special slide presentation about Pine Barrens wildflowers by Howard Boyd, author of numerous books on Pine Barrens flora and
fauna. Mr. Boyd has spent over 50 years exploring the Pine Barrens and is perhaps best known for his book, A Field Guide to the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. The talk will be held at our office
in historic Whitesbog Village, Lebanon State Forest. Registration is required. Please call Rebecca Free, 609-735-2200.

I recently bought Howard's latest book on the wildflowers of the Pine Barrens. It is a great book. It includes color photographs and the flowers are organized in order of blooming, rather than by color or taxonomy as in other books. This is a very user friendly format and should be carried afield by anyone beginners wanting to learn the flowers of this area.
