If you travel down 539 as you pass the Chamberlain Branch, you may have noticed the Wychwood Gun Club sign along the road.

Tonight, while looking through some of the information I have here I noticed how that property came to be.

Sorry, but the info I have ends there. In any event, we have discussed Stanley Switlik before and he was quite an interesting person. He owned a massive amount of land in the barrens and even sold the Brooksbree tract to the state.

More info here.

This video on youtube gives you a little background on him.

Didn't Switlik own the land that Great Adventure is on now?

Yes. The one article above states he regretted selling that to them.

Teegate, the gun club property includes the series of bogs on the opposite side of Rt 539 too?

Judging by the last line of the paragraph I would have to say no. It says the monument along 539 is the NW corner which puts all of the land on the East side. I guess.

That is the 1959 survey of the Greenwood Forest. They are the property corners. Notice in the earlier years it is not there. The same is true for all of the roads around the Chamberlain and Webbs Mill. That survey opened up all of that area. They really went overboard.
