It's okay Ed. Almost every dog I know can't read, so the posted hours won't really matter. This rule is very restrictive.
- Quiet hours are from 10pm to 6pm to be observed by all visitors.
Which one that you know can read? It's okay Ed. Almost every dog I know can't read, so the posted hours won't really matter.![]()
Pretty sure my son's Plott Hound, Finley, can read. He watches TV intently and when there are words on the screen, his head moves slowly from left to right. He's a cool dog.Which one that you know can read?
I had a similar reaction when I saw that this was being described as "new".Bizarre that A.P.P. would describe this as a new pet-friendly program. It's been in place for a long, long time. $5 per night extra, and must provide office with proof of pet's rabies vaccine. Pets are only allowed in tent/trailer campsites designated for pets (which is a lot of sites), and never in structures like cabins or lean-tos (service dogs excepted, as they are not pets). Nothing has changed in years, as far as I know.
"Quiet hours" really refers to things like gas-powered generators, which need to be turned off at 10pm so your camping neighbors can sleep. Some of those things are really loud. I've never heard of quiet hours being used against pets.
Camping with dogs is great. It's a few of the day-use dog walkers who are the problem, doing things like bagging their dog's waste and then leaving the bag on a trail, or tossing it into the woods.
I remember seeing you in Wading Pines, camping. Do you still go? How is it under the newer management.Like I said, throw those rules out the window. Be prepared to smell and step all over dog crap, be awakened in the middle of the night from a barking dog (and you know once one starts.......) and guard yourself and family from unleashed dogs, because the irresponsible owners think it doesn't apply to them and their dog is "trained" not to be on a leash.
Not sure what you mean. Tent/trailer "Family" campsites are $20 per night for NJ residents, $25 per night for non-residents - that's for the site, not per person. ($2 per night discount for NJ residents age 62 or older.) Pet friendly camping fee is $5 per night added to the regular fee. The fees are set in the State Park Service Code (NJAC 7:2-17.2), so the individual parks have no discretion or control over this.Ridiculous that the dog surcharge is more $ than the fee for the site!
I've cleaned up a lot of campsites and I can't recall ever having to deal with dog waste. Baby diapers, yes, dog poop, no.Is the five dollars extra because they are going to clean up the poop? I doubt it.
