There were no pictures, just links and graphic descriptions of what you would find on the site(s). That was outrageous enough, all by itself.

I think it's really from Garmin, the address and links are legit. Seems like I got one of these a few years ago and logged in to preserve the account. Am going to think awhile before doing that this time, like another 59 days maybe. :D

I signed in. I looked at the list of items I have purchased and clicked on the “birdseye imagery” and it went to a page saying “you seem to be lost.” I don’t think so, I am not the one lost.

I went to their site, it didn't work with the password my browser had saved, had to go through the procedure to get a temporary one, then change it. Interesting that they only showed two old automotive GPS units in my registered devices, not my newer DriveSmart, DriveTrack (which used to have a Birdseye subscription) or the Montana which was the last handheld I bought.

They had an ad for their big summer sale! Pages of expensive smartwatches, a headset (?) and a bike GPS. No handhelds or car GPSes. That says a lot about them. Doubt there will be any more Garmin products in my future. Too bad, the Garmin era was fun while it lasted...

I have to make sure my GPS lasts my lifetime. Looking at my screen you can guess it won’t. :bang:

If it's a Montana 6xx, I don't think they will refurbish that, it was discontinued long ago. They might offer you a discount on what they consider to be a comparable new(er) model. But, of course, there is nothing comparable because the only touchscreen handheld they make now is the Montana 700 which is a big, heavy $650 brick.

But if that sounds good, I think this is how you would see if they will offer any kind of replacement but they seem to intentionally make it mysterious...

Guy, remember, I had that refurbished with a new screen, so maybe they still offer that. It was $80. They also repaired the button we press so often.
It is the maps I am concerned about. I can buy a used one with no problem I expect but it really won't help me much without the maps.

The least likely person in the world to be lost right here folks! I"ve never been lost myself either but I"ve been a might confused for a feww hours here and a few hours there.Almost had to sleep on a rick once because of it and in a tree in a flooded swamp the other time in the middle of winter and snowing but my biometric compass kicked in and got me out.

I think the premium units all include birdseye - don't they? And I think you can download directly on the gps with wifi or maybe through an app on your phone. But that will just get you whatever currently passes for "Birdseye" which might be different from the maps you're using now. But (AFAIK) you won't be able to use any of your old Birdseye .jnx files on any new Garmin device because you won't be able to authorize them. I think they have changed everything about Birdseye but honestly don't know. I have two "orphaned" devices that no longer support Birdseye myself.

When (if) I buy that brick, I recall the site saying it comes with Birdseye. I posed the question one time as to whether its an updated set of aerials.

I thought birdseye was gone. If they have birdseye when I have to buy the brick I will purchase it. However, at this time I am sticking with the one I have.
