    Hello from the highlands

Just wanted to swing by and wish everyone a happy new year. Nice to see a lot of the same folks posting. I haven't checked in for quite a long time, though I do surf by every once in a while to see how things are going, and I see updates from Ben and Chris and Gabe on facebook. It's been a very...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I looked this afternoon and also could not find anything.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I think there are a lot of people who don't want any vehicles in the woods at all.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I always figured this was inevitable, what with the boggers and people dumping trash and littering. As was said above, only the law abiding and respectful will be hurt by this. And of course the staff of the DEP and park service, forest service, what-not, all the scientifically approved and...

    High Crossing never disappoints

The FJ weighs in at a little over 4k pounds, if I recall, something like 4200. Looked like stock rubber so no help there, lol. That jeep looked pretty light to me. I don't have a winch on my FJ, though, so I would have had to yank on him.

Yeah, but with my method I can roll down the windows and get that piney scent and the flies. Of course, some of you can do that at home too.

Saying farewell to the Toyota FJ Cruiser

Damn good point about the check engine light. Bad sensor should trip that on.

Saying farewell to the Toyota FJ Cruiser

Just a guess, but air density changes with temperature, which alters the oxygen content in a given volume. It's why old naturally aspirated engines performed better on cool days. Could be the O2 sensor is bad and the mixture settings needed for the warmer, less oxygen rich air are getting messed...

Saying farewell to the Toyota FJ Cruiser

Nice truck, Bob. I still think the Taco is the best looking small pickup. The body sits just right. On your starting problem, I'm going with O2 sensor.

Saying farewell to the Toyota FJ Cruiser

Yeah there is really nothing, other than a few spots like Jemima you shouldn't be climbing anyway (spoken by a guy who did, and then thought about it and hasn't since). At extreme articulation an SFA will keep the tires planted perpendicular to the surface they're riding on, but that situation...

Saying farewell to the Toyota FJ Cruiser

Oh the overall utility of the design is absurd. The stupid suicide doors, the low windshield (with three wipers!), the cave-like rear compartment, lack of any storage whatsoever, the laughably useless stock roof rack, the even more laughably useless stock aluminum skidplate that you can bend...

    Chigger Free for Today

Speaking of chiggers... I went to Harrisville two weeks ago with my nephew. We were not prepared to go off trail and I told him we wouldn't be, but then I broke my own rule to show him the power plant ruins. Brought back the worst chigger assault I've had to suffer. Something like 50-60 bites on...

Saying farewell to the Toyota FJ Cruiser

I'm sad to see it go, just because there are few small body-on-frame 4wd trucks left in the market. But I am not at all surprised they killed it. My '07 has 125k miles on it, and quite a few of them were earned beating around pretty much every road in the barrens and the gap, wet or dry, sandy...

Cool stuff, Mike. I'm sure we'll see a lot more of this kind of exploration. Let me know if you get up in our corner of the state. I know a few good flyover candidates in Warren and Sussex. Btw, I could have used this technology two weeks ago when I took my nephew to Harrisville, and broke my...
