    Boy Scout Camp In Tabernacle

I found this, I guess anyone who had signed up for this year's Trek Camp is probably out of luck.

    Boy Scout Camp In Tabernacle

One of my sons has done scout programs there. For the last few summers they've had a pretty amazing Trek Camp. From their description: They're still listing a camp for August of this year. I wonder if they're still going to be able to use Pine Tree facilities after the sale?

Joseph Wharton Water Supply Proposal Map - 1891

Thanks for sharing. I’ve studied the blown-up version in the Batsto Visitor’s Center. I know a couple of spots where a road would pass by one of these lakes and occasionally look over to imagine what the lake would look like.

    Atsion River?

I'm sure someone with more knowledge than I will chime in, but it's my understanding that the upper reaches of the Mullica was named Atsion in the early days. If you take the Toms' Pond trail west out of Batsto you'll climb over the berms of the old lake. A popular side trail takes you to the...

    Fire In Atco

From Rt 73 at 6:18. It seemed quite dramatic. Good to know what is was.

Stafford Township and Bass River on 1949 topo

There’s a plaque at the fire fire memorial at Bass River, by the old CCC camp. Could it be this?

    One Source of the Mullica

Nice write up. I pass that area frequently but haven’t explored. It always bothers me going south on 73 when I pass the sign telling motorists they are entering the Great Egg Harbor River watershed. I always yell out “This is the Mullica!”

    Old Foundry Water Tower Ruins??

Don't know anything about that place but my mom grew up in Palmerton, Pa., home of giant zinc factories and it was truly bizarre to visit when I was a kid. The mountainside was completely barren, just red dirt, and nothing grew in the town. People would be thrilled if they could get a small...

    Driving Question

The don’t-block-the-box squares are pretty coming in urban spaces, where the lack of a turning space can cause completely unnecessary gridlock. I guess there seen this problem at that intersection.

Weird pine barrens images from new Photoshop AI feature

The Ai bots ripped off a lot of the text to my semi-niche publication. A couple of times bloggers have asked ChatGPT questions and said it sounded liked warmed-over articles we would publish and I’m like “well, yeah.” Glad that NJPinebarrens seems to be off the map! I’ll be looking for headless...

Soggy Ground: A Geography of Pine Barrens Wetlands — Saturday, April 20, 2024.

That sounds absolutely fabulous. I think I saw the book at Lines but didn't know you had a real name lol. Probably can't make it to Pemberton but I'll definitely order the book.

    4.8 earthquake. I felt it.

Sorry, I forgot to add that: https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us7000ma74/shakemap/intensity . It's what they're calling the "Shake Map." I clicked on "contours" and clicked through to the full map. I can't quite tell the source of the data. I don't think it's just user reports...
