    New fire roads Warren Grove

I agree. Keep 'em close by. Even before 9-11 I liked having them around. Now, years later, they do offer a sense of added security. I may only think this way though because there is probably not a day that goes by that I don't imagine being attacked again. Was way too close to it when I did happen.

'It seemed to be a body from WWII'

Reminds me of the WWII plane that revealed itself out of the sand at the beach last year in Great Britain. Just when one may think we've pretty much tapped into everything we're going to find, along comes a discovery such as this. Fantastic.

Shells on the wall at work would have never flown (pardon the pun) where I used to work. I was surrounded by a bunch of hens who would kill anything that moved, and they certainly wouldn't want the remnants of something that used to move near them (except for a couple of Big Macs perhaps)...

Oh good grief. I'm almost sorry I mentioned it because the last thing I want to do is come across as some sort of rabble rouser. Please see my last post to BobPBX. :happycat:

Without going into specifics -- I check out this place for a good burger but end up having to listen to an obvious "regular" throwing around very targeted language, in response to a benign TV commercial, of all things. Felt like I was in a time warp. All I wanted was the burger! Still trying...

I agree-- and some of the menu items needed to be updated-- perhaps we'll see that when it's rebuilt. Checked out another local establishment that has been touted for its burgers. The burger was delish but the bigot 10 feet away made me sick. Sorry. I've had it bottled up for weeks. Done...

    McCormick Ave. island in Sweetwater

Where we used to live, there is an old collapsing bulkhead next to the house, which was once a tavern near a once thriving fishing village. As the story goes, construction of the bulkhead was barter for some rum... or so the story goes. Good stuff. Thanks.

EVERYBODY we came across told us we have to go we have to go we have to go. Our kind realtor even gave us a gift certificate for the place. We finally get over there, fall in love with the ambience. Couple weeks later at the Blessing of the Mullica we meet some nice people who tell us we should...

    Bald Eagle sighting

Saw one right over the house within the first week we were down here. It was the perfect welcome mat and validation that we made the right move when we relocated. Then about 6 weeks ago we saw a huge juvenal soaring right in front of us over one of the bridges (I think it was the Green Bank but...

    Bald Eagle sighting

I don't care for hunting personally but have respect for and understand The Hunt. On the other hand, hearing about these kinds of folks makes me wish they'd shoot their own feet off way out in the middle of the woods.

    Cicadas

Wow--how about that. I didn't realize it. Must be the word JUICY!! Funny stuff. NO, I DON'T EAT 'EM. Seriously, though-- when I described them using that term, I meant the big pregnant ones, with the swollen abdomen. As the season would wear on, part of the fun was waiting to see if any of the...

while on the subject of big bugs... Cicadae and katydids are up there near the top of my 'faves' list, but no arthropod can come close to the beauty of a big juicy green female praying mantis. it's now occuring to me that I haven't seen any mantids since arriving here this summer. For many...
