    Road Conditions

Like you said that burn area that you are talking about burnt hard around 2017. And it did burn again in June of 2022 when the Mullica River Fire took off from Locks Bridge area. As far as the roads. I haven’t been out that way lately but before this wet winter you easily make it down Quaker...

    Trip to Mount

We made it out there over the winter too. One of my favorite spots. Even with as bad as the roads are to get there someone was able to poach one of the black walnut trees I’m assuming for lumber value.

    A big tree

That’s what was thinking but I need to get a better look at the needles. It’s size just stood out from everything else in the area.

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

It’s a little late but it’s been a crazy week. Sunday we went out to see how the woods looked. We stopped at nearly every river crossing between Atco and Batsto. It was very wet. First stop was the bridge at Goshen. Water was actually flowing around the bridge to the west. Further downstream...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

We got out for a short trip. There’s a lot of water pooled up and slowly draining. There are puddles in areas that don’t normally have puddles and most have currents.

    Controlled burns 2024

Yea the Clark Branch runs straight through that section. There is a lot of area in there especially now. It looked like the drier areas were burning well on Friday.

Wharton State Forest 1966 Visitor Map nearly identical to 2024 draft Visitor Map

To be clear we are not talking about “unmanaged paths” as you call them. They are roads. Don’t be afraid to call them that here. Would you be for or against increased funding if it came with the stipulation that little or no roads would be closed?
