    Then & Now Photos

And a free bonus picture of an abandoned barn in Dukes Bridge, 22Sep1971. If that barn is still there I'll eat Ong's hat!

    Then & Now Photos

Another one of Friendship I just scanned, taken 25 years later than the one above when there were still people and animals living there. 24 July 1996. Is that foundation still visible?

Wolfspider found the W.P. 1700 stone!

Too bad you didn't take it yourself, now looking back, and put it in a museum, in Batsto or someplace. I used to carve the dates i climbed up Windham High Peak in the Catskill mountains, every year, in the 60s and 70s, into the rock, but the last time i was up there, about 12 years ago, the...

Bamber Lake Club/Camp Columbus. Say Hello.

I recall one night camping out by Bamber Lake, in 1970, and the night sounds - the bullfrogs - it was so loud! I haven't heard night sounds like that in many years.

    Realm of the Piney Warden

"I'm glad you survived your "North By Northwest" incident! " That was about the size of it, except my attacking enemy aircraft didn't blow up. But that was the last time I ever went down there without my 40mm anti-aircraft gun.

    Realm of the Piney Warden

Beautiful photo - HDR right? - but I don't know about homaging the PB cranbury growers. One of them came by in his biplane and strafed me with weed killer or bug spray almost fifty years ago! How many guys do you know who are alive today who have been strafed by a biplane?

Ever asked to donate a photo?

Ha ha who can I sue? My retainer team of Philadelphia lawyers are champing at the bit!

Ever asked to donate a photo?

Whatever happened to my rare town of Friendship photo that I gave permission to use in a new book on the NJPB in exchange for a copy of the book? I did the same for a guy making a photo book about my old neighborhood in northern Manhattan, Inwood, but I actually got that book.

It Sure Felt Like A Bee ...But Was It?

Some ferocious insect dive bombed me in the Arizona desert last year and I had to run for it. I didn't even see what it was. It bit my nose and was coming back for more. It was very fast and made a loud buzzing sound. A few weeks ago I was bit by an ordinary bee. That was unusual because...

New law: no smoking in public parks, forests?

Ha ha no doubt! But the Volvo 544 was newer than the 444. My '58 Saab only had 3 cylinders to begin with. 2 stroke engine. I had to mix oil with the gas. It was a neat car. Very unusual and innovative. I paid 195 for it and sold it for 250. I have fond memories of it too. The Volvo not so...

New law: no smoking in public parks, forests?

That's what I said, boss! "my ancient Volvo wagon..." My first car was a used red Volvo 544, 1961 I think. Later on I had a 1958 Saab. Later on I had a Mercedes Benz that I bought from Romany gypsies in Brooklyn for $200. Mostly though I had VW Beetles back then. They were the best thing...

New law: no smoking in public parks, forests?

Sounds real interesting. Speaking of out of the way places I was just talking about the times I went to Boulder, Utah, in the far south of the state. It is very remote and spectacular country...but it's one of those places that "you can't get there from here". I live in southern Arizona now...

New law: no smoking in public parks, forests?

Pleased to meet you, Jersey D! I've spent many nights sleeping in the Pine Barrens and I always sleep soundly in those woods. The Jersey Devil watches over me. He's my friend. PS I just recalled the last time I slept in there, and by then i was a visitor from far away, and that was years ago...

I like your avatar, Manumuskin. No offense, but you look like you might have some Jersey Devil blood in your family line!

New law: no smoking in public parks, forests?

If Uncle Ed had no liquor license and the cops hung out there that's good enough for me - it was a speakeasy! It was in the far south of NJ but I guess that wasn't far enough south for it to have been called a blind tiger. Is it all gone now, maybe turned into a burger king?

New law: no smoking in public parks, forests?

Cool...but a speakeasy in the 1970's thru 90's? But likker was legal then! Perhaps it was a private club like the old Bucket of Blood in my old neighborhood, Inwood, NYC, turned into in its latter days - and maybe it still is for all I know - it looks sealed up from the outside. And you know...

New law: no smoking in public parks, forests?

Next they will be outlawing smoking while in a car which might actually be a good thing if it worked. Then people wouldn't throw cigarettes out the car window. But these laws are really backdoor attempts to outlaw smoking and drinking - all the police traffic stop sobriety checks, laws against...
