"Look at his dock, it's 400 feet long." He has a 400 foot dock but his house doesn't have electricity. When the refuge bought the surrounding property they didn't even know a fisherman lived back there.

Types of Pine Trees at Maurice River Bluffs Preserve

Yes, that's April's cranberry farm. The old building next door made and packed cranberry sauce. Towards the end of the farm, cranberries from Wisconsin were also utilized. The southern pinelands at one point was a major cranberry producer. The farm is for sale if you want to purchase it...

Types of Pine Trees at Maurice River Bluffs Preserve

Definitely looks like Pitch-lob to me. Take a ride to the end of Weatherby Road just past the lake near Rt. 49. The pine plantation next to the old packing house looks exactly the same and I know for certain that it is a planted pitch pine/Loblolly hybrid stand.

Property Stones And More... Fall 2022/ Winter Spring 2023

When does a bicycle turn into a motorcycle? I was in Ocean City last summer and saw a dude riding an electric bicycle driving down the road at 35 mph towing a trailer. He wasn't wearing a helmet and weaved through the traffic at car speeds. I not a fan of regulation but I found it ironic...

Pretty sad if it was "stolen." I aways thought how special it was that 50 years of Pine Barrens enthusiasts left the plane wreckage alone for future generations to explore.

    Theater?

I always thought it was odd that one of the newest movie theaters went out of business so relatively fast. My weirdest inspection station memory was when I went with my buddy to Manahawkin in his lifted CJ-5. He was trying to get the coveted "stability" papers. They put his jeep through a mini...

We used to "drag race" on Rt. 70 in front of the Marlton Burger King in the early 90s. Drag Racing is still alive and well on Weatherby Road in Port Elizabeth.

Also was used for illegal drag racing. They eventually cut perpendicular ditches in the runway to stop it.

How New Jersey Plans to Relocate Flooded ‘Ghost Forests’ Inland

IMHO, most of the coastal cedar mortality was a direct result of Hurricane Sandy. The tress succumbed to the salt water within 5 years.

    Packs of them

I went to Woodstock 94. It was a little crazy but definitely not violent. I was shocked after watching Woodstock 99.

ATVs continue wild illegal joyrides through the NJ Pine Barrens

If future mandates require all vehicles to be electric won't this problem solve itself? The minute these illegal off-roaders drive through a puddle they will be electrocuted.

    Penn State Forest Q

You didn't mention Whibco. I figured you would be the one to ask if they ever owned more acreage than Haines. They presently own thousands of acres and used to own more.

@manumuskin Did WHIBCO own more land than Haines at any point?

    Sharp's Mountain

"Rehoboam Braddock married Jemima Darnell and had 10 children. He passed away on 20 May 1812 in Evesham, Burlington County, NJ." Could Jemima Mount be connected to Rehoboam's wife Jemima Darnell?

A William H. Sharp is buried at Park View cemetery in Medford. He lived from 1818 to 1900. Perhaps the same man?
