New Car or Nearly New Car

My daughter wanted a new Toyota Rav4 last spring. All the dealers wanted thousands of dollars over MSRP if it was on the lot. If they had to order one it was going to be months and they weren't even certain they would be allocated what she wanted. In addition, her $500 college rebate...

    Stone Searching Fall/Winter 2023-2024

It would be nice to know what brand of adhesive was used to fix that stone. Anything I glue together doesn't last an hour let alone a decade!

    A photo to mull over

Let me know if you find a Pond Pine. I went looking for one once for a Scottish scientist. You will see some odd looking pine trees in that area. I was told it's the results of natural hybridization between northern and southern pine species.

    A photo to mull over

I think you will enjoy working in that area. It's where the southern forests and the pinelands overlap.

    Red Lion Dinner

Their business model has really changed over the years. Stand alone Wawas are getting rare. And they used to have more grocery items when you were in a pinch and the supermarket was closed.

    Bass River Fire

The incident commander decides the fire's name. Normally, the name has a geographic or historical connection to the area where the fire is burning. However, it doesn't have to be. I have seen them named after people, holidays, or even animals. Don't read too much into the name. You don't...

    Quite a hill

That's the infamous "Hundred Foot Hill." It's man made. Anyone with a dirt bike in the 1980s climbed that hill.

    Jugs and Mugs Bar

I figured Scott would know the answer! That's definitely the spot. I remember the big parking lot in the rear. That building was pretty unique. It was built like a barn with a loft.

    Jugs and Mugs Bar

Thanks! I have been trying to find it on the 1980s/1990s aerials. My buddy and I were driving past it the other day and we couldn't remember the exact location. We both have some fond memories of that place! Amazing how built up Rt. 73 is 30 years later.

    Jugs and Mugs Bar

I have been searching for the Jugs and Mugs Bar on Rt. 73 in Berlin. I realize it has been torn down but can anyone point out it's former location on an aerial image?

If you look carefully in the one photo, I may have also found the last remaining "beer ball" in NJ.

A prescribed burn uncovered a few old Clorox bottles the other day!

    Precipitation totals

That's very interesting. The map really depicts how so many thunderstorms break apart over the Delaware Bay and never make it to NJ.

Travel along the old stage route from philly to egg harbor?

That's really interesting. I will keep an eye out for any monuments. Hard to believe these old woods roads were the main throughfare to the seashore.

    Train-to-Blimp Transfer, Crossley PRR

The width of the railroad right aways through the pines is impressive. This video really depicts how the old steam locomotives were a major source of forest fires.
