    Russ Anderson Road

I was referring to the two roads but I guess there could be a connection between there two names as well. Elizabeth Morgan had found the reference to the Jim Anderson Road in an old article in the Batsto Citizens Gazette and gave me a copy. It gave the destination of the road, which I can't...

    Russ Anderson Road

There was a Jim Anderson Road that went through Wells Mills Park, headed in the general direction of Chatsworth. I wonder if there is a connection between the two.

Just sent a PM regarding the cabin.

    Earthquake

Maybe the rumbling was Mrs. Leed's naughty child. I do find it odd that the above article made no mention of the NJANG's F-16s, out of the Atlantic City Airport, which can certainly break the sound barrier. Come to think of it, they even feature that little devil on their tail. :)

Fifth-generation cranberry farm continues to succeed

I learned first-hand a long time ago that there is often a big difference between what one says to the press and what gets printed. Sometimes it's a misquote and other times it could be a short quote taken out of context, perhaps even to intentionally achieve a more dramatic sentiment.

Sunrise at Wescoat Bogs Tuesday, October 10

I've seen several minks in the last month. Not sure if I'm just noticing them more or if there is an upswing in their population cycle.

    Public Service Announcement

My son just bought a house in Winslow, surrounded by large chestnut oaks. Moving between truck and house as we work on renovations is a downright hazard right now!

    A stockpile of fill dirt

I don't know if it was delivered by a contractor or a state vehicle. I would imagine the former if the pile has been sitting around a bit. I wouldn't expect a driver delivering the load to dump a little bit here, a little bit there, etc., still requiring leveling and compacting which he wouldn't...

    Botany and Healing

I agree. We have several similar books at work and most seem to be merely citing someone else's claims in order to get something published. Al's statement is certainly true regarding some of the plants and their associated cures, but a claimed benefit from a plant should be able to stand up to...

    Where is this?

I've been upset at how that conditions have declined at this tract over the years as well, as it is not far from my home and I've utilized it, along with my family, for close to 30 years now. Bob, I don't know if your idea on the water levels would work because it assumes all the floodgates are...

    Bevan Destroys Baileytown

I tend to believe people overestimate most of their abilities when drunk. This applies to swimming, driving, and perhaps most of all singing and dancing.

Harrisville Lake tree removal and grading

Ahh, change, the most reviled word in the English language. Looks much worse than it did a few weeks ago, and very likely much better than it did during most of the 19th and early 20th century when most of the trees here, as well as much of the surrounding forest, had been removed for one reason...

    Ghost Forest

One habitat being replaced by another is not necessarily a problem, at least from an environmental standpoint, but what is a problem is that less new salt marshes are going to form inland, the way they once did during past climate shifts, because much of the potential forest that would naturally...

    Kayak Question

Yes, that and the fact that most factory racks are referred to as "luggage racks" and not meant to carry the weight of heavier boats. I carry my aluminum canoe up top as often as I do my kayaks, and the last vehicle I had with racks did not support them well. I think I was beyond the recommended...

    Kayak Question

These seem like a great idea. Newer vehicles, even trucks, have so much darn plastic up front it's hard to find a good anchoring point without damaging something when you tighten down. I wonder how much upward force the hood of some newer vehicles can take if you use these however. I normally...
