    Fossil and artifact hunting questions

Big Brook has a lot of fossilized shark teeth, brachiopods, squid tentacles and scutes. I have taken my kids there many times. It is pretty cool to sift through the riverbed and find something that lived over 50 million years ago

    Harris Station

Had some time to kill today before meeting someone in Tabernacle near Butterworth Bogs Rd. Took a ride with my son over towards Apple Pie Hill and down to Harris Station. Tried to look for the train door going south on the track towards Caranza. To be honest I did not check the forum first for a...

    Only the wealthy need apply

Yes, a bit pricey. But I always liked the box Broncos. Perfect for the woods, small, light and not super wide. They look good with a nice scrub oak or scrub pine finish down the sides. This company advertises in a lot of boating magazines too.

    Controlled Burning

I was down by Batso on Saturday and the field across the street was recently burned too. Walked along the shores of the Mullica during the west winds. Lots of glass mixed with the gravel near Hermann City ruins. Is this old glass from the works? I know they produced rectangular and round...

    Pine Barren History Shorts

After reading years ago about the Zebra and the battle of Chestnut Neck. I always wondered why the wrecks were never checked out. After all the Mullica is not that deep. Crazy to find out this happened over 65 years ago. Too bad they did not teach this stuff in school. I probably would have...

Amatol Raceway and Ammunitions Village/Factory Remains, Hammonton, NJ

It was called the Atlantic City Speedway and I believe it was was once owned by Charles Schwab. There are videos and old pictures on the internet. If you visit, there is not much to see except for some old garbage dumps, lots of broken glass, shoes and 2 old buildings from the Amatol plant. You...

    Winter Storm Watch

I guess this year we are making up for all of the snow we did not get in the last 2 years? I think it was almost 70 at our house on Christmas 2 or 3 years ago.

    Fall/Winter Stone Searching 2021/2022

I like the snow during the winter to see the different types of terrain. When it started raining yesterday I was out along Bryant and Webbs Mills Roads in Greenwood WMA. I was not getting out of the truck. However I saw a bunch of valleys and hills that "popped out" because of the snow contrast...

Gun Club Deeds And Other Places

Oil in the pines????? Apparently not just for oil. The paper says gas, sulphur or any minerals. That is a pretty vague statement, Do you think Shell new about something in the works and this was there way to get the rights? Besides sand gravel and clay. What important minerals are available in...

    Martha Bridge January 1974

Teegate, since you have many pictures of Greenwood WMA. Do you have any pictures or recall going to this spot on 539 in Lacey? We used to call it the drop off. You had a really good view from the top of the hill but it was pretty much straight down. In the early 90s it became posted and...
