    Painted Rock

Perhaps a trail marker or a calling card for someone to say "I was here." For a while in my town it was a big craze for people to paint rocks and leave them everywhere. Some even had inspirational messages. My daughters girl scout troop even painted bunches of them and took them to parks and...

    RAIN?

I dont have sprinklers and usually after the first 90 degree day in June my lawn is a nice light brown. This year even in August it is still a nice dark green because of all the rain. Unfortunately because of the rain my pool keeps turning the same color as the lawn.

    Bamber to Island Beach

I take the kids and the dog swimming to the dam at Bamber 2-3 times a week. There are defiantly some blow-downs visible right there. We also frequent the landing before Dover Forge. There are some obstacles there to get thru too. Even when you put in at DF canoe access it is still pretty wild. I...

    Where is this?

I see steps to reach the barrels. Were they used as hunting stands? That would be pretty small and cramped. Perhaps it was to practice some piney basketball?

CNBC: New Jersey is the "best state to live in"

Did you hike through Hartshorne Woods and check out the WWII bunkers? Twin Lights is a must too. Marconi did his first wireless radio transmissions from there.

    WMAs closing areas

Swimming and fishing are popular in the second pit. For some reason when the state bought it the gate was always closed and limited driving back there. It stayed pretty clean. The first pit was closed for ever, the state bought it and opened up for vehicle access. There are fish in there too and...

    WMAs closing areas

These signs are all along Lacey Rd where the OC property is. However once you are on the property there are no other ones I am aware of it. Even off of the railroad or if you come in from the Bryant there are no signs

    WMAs closing areas

I like this quote from the state " six localized areas are being closed to public access to protect the public, Conservation Police Officers and the surrounding habitat" Protect the public from what? Themselves?

The pit is commonly called 539 pit, lately the yellow gates to access the 2 roads to the pit have been closed. Guy, did you notice if they were still closed when you were out there last week?

It got real dark here in Lacey around 7:30, thundered and lightning but just a sprinkle for about 2 minutes. I can still hear thunder outside somewhere.

New Jersey's Great Swamp Refuge to expand by 27 acres

Read up on the history of that park. In the 60s they wanted to make it a jetport. Hmmm, sounds like another plan they tried in the Pine Barrens

    Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge

Next time walk down the road a little further to the Raptor Trust. They rehabilitate injured birds of prey. As they always try to release birds when they can, the animals on exhibit always change. I especially love seeing all the different owls and the golden eagles. You never realize how big...
