    Sadly you are correct.

    The new, improved

I'm sure the prefab steel bridge was the cheapest way to go but the trestle lost the nostalgia appeal. Would have been nice if it could have been rebuilt with wood.

    Stump grinding

I have a some trees I cut down this past winter, about 10 to 12" diameter, they are cut at ground level. Not worried about the grass as it's mainly moss. I have an area that is literally infested with green briars, I wonder if I "seed" the area with the granulated chlorine granules i f that will...

    Stump grinding

How large of a stump diameter wise? Did you drill holes or just pile the chlorine on top?

    1st of the season

You really were exploring the burn. It was mentioned back fires were set from rt 72 so that would be in the area. The back fires are set against the wind I believe so although the burn appears well established it wasn't able to reach the crowns. I don't know if that hunter will be happy or not, LOL

    1st of the season

That's a well worn path. The hunter must have spent a lot of time there and many trips. That was in a back burn area or was it a controlled burn?

But the under brush is still clear. I'm trying to figure out why those 2 tires Guy found were untouched, they don't even appear scorched. .

Interesting theory, thanks. I figure the wind is a factor as the "streets" appear wind directional. Al made same observations I've noticed with unburnt areas or trees after a major wildfire. You can usually tell where backfires have been set so I don't this is a possibility.

    1st of the season

I've often wondered when viewing an aerial of a wildfire the narrow streaks or bands of trees that survive the crown fire. I'm sure the underbrush is burned. Then you see tiny "islands" of trees with green crowns while all the surrounding is scorched earth. I'm not talking about swamps or water...

    Pinelands Commission Meeting Video

That explains a lot. I did research and found Brunetti owned a lot and it explained all the game preserve signs by some sportsman club throughout the woods. What did Brunetti have in mind buying all the land? When is the county going to get the land? What do you think they will do with it [the...

    Pinelands Commission Meeting Video

That's a name I haven't heard in a while, I never used it. I believe it's privately owned, Maybe 6 years ago a friend and I entered through the back from the woods. We were reminiscing about the good old days when an old pickup came racing up and 2 guys started yelling we were trespassing. We...

    Pinelands Commission Meeting Video

No, the houses would complain but yes it is large. Back in the '70 's there were 4wd events there until a spectator not in the event went on the course in his pickup with friends in the back. The truck flipped killing a young girl. Needless to say that was the end of all events. Parkers pit near...

For the record I'm not defending anyone and yes I feel they should restore the land to a safe state. I think we all know the political pull of who Parker is, not that it should matter. Some folks and businesses lie like used car salesmen to get what they want then renege on the agreement, thus...

    Pinelands Commission Meeting Video

The one is Parkers pit, the other one ?. Are you sure their abandoned, who owns the property now? Doing the "right" thing costs $$ that a business isn't going to spend. Were these pits in operation prior to land restoration legislation? Isn't a performance bond required to be paid?

    Pinelands Commission Meeting Video

Bob I'm not disputing you, can you show pictures of these abandoned eyesores and where? The only ones I can think of are the "clay mines" and bog iron holes. These eyesores were of a time long ago prior to regulations requiring land restoration.

New law: no smoking in public parks, forests?

“State park or forest” means any State owned or leased land, water or facility administered by the Department of Environmental Protection, including, but not limited to, a park, forest, recreational area, marina, historic site, burial site, or natural area, but not including a wildlife...
