FIOS is coming to rural Atlantic County

Huh is right. You weren't clear on what was being done. The talk was about installing the cable in town not to the individual house. I can see a lot of crap being cut in this situation. I guess they could have called Comcast and have your neighbor contact the sprinkler co. to mark out their...

FIOS is coming to rural Atlantic County

I'm in Holly Park and nothing going on that I know of unfortunately. How far off the road are they digging? Isn't there a 5 or 6' right of way on each side of the road? Your neighbors irrigation lines had no business being there. The sprinkler co. screwed up. I imagine Verizon will repair though?

    Cranberry trouble here too?

As I figured and stated there is more to the newspaper story than stated. For my info what family are you associated with? Can you elaborate a bit more on the new hybrid and it's uses? I'd also be interested in learning of the underdrains and solid set irrigation and any other bits of info you'd...

    Cranberry trouble here too?

Agree. 20 years of over supply, yet I've seen some local growers adding new bogs, bringing dormant bogs back into production, ripping up active bogs in order to plant a different variety cranberry. There's certainly more to the story than is presented.

    Bass River Fire Tower proposal

When you don't want to do something you amazingly find a number of "excuses" against it. I believe the article said "loss of wireless signal". Well ya, how many cell phones lose signal? Hardwire the camera's. Keep the man in the tower with a camera pole extension on top of the tower and have the...

Does anybody know what this metal hardware is ?

May be and admit it's similar to your picture. Wouldn't the anchor be parallel with the cable instead of what appears perpendicular? Then there's that freestanding post opposite. I guess time will show.

Washington Tpke 745 acre thinning bid

Not sure if I would have been any more surefooted in the rocks myself. For work I sometimes need an extension ladder, not comfortable anymore and if I need to walk a pick [aluminum plank] I'm shaky. Getting into the boat reminded me of my instability. While the boat was much larger than the...

    Bill to allow prescribed burns

Yes I agree also, but how to do that without the controlled burn becoming a wild fire itself?

    STOP!

There is a brand of duck tape. Are we missing something in the sign? Did anyone notice, isn't that duct [duck] tape wrapped around the stick?

Washington Tpke 745 acre thinning bid

Yeah, so is mine. I can remember walking a "plank" so to speak as in your picture. Not anymore.

Guy Is your balance as good now as it was when that photo was taken?

    The invasion has begun....

Yes, bicycles, kayaks, rafts strapped to the car roofs, traffic wise it doesn't make much difference anymore. Rt 9 in Forked River & Lacey Rd is a jam all year and especially on weekends anymore, so what's new?

    Bass River Fire Tower proposal

Oh boy. I enjoy the woods as we all do. I've been in the grove of white pines and really like the change from the "pine barrens". No I do not spend a lot of time in the white pines, hardly at all. No matter the fact they may have been planted with the intention to harvest, times have changed...

    It's Still There

Can you think of a better place to block? No getting around it. Look at where Haines and DeMarco choose to block.

    It's Still There

Yes I followed that thread. Without reading all of it again isn't it a land ownership dispute? From that thread it appears Miller is a $$ person? If so we all know how that works. In the Haines & DeMarco situation the roads crossed a dike [Oswego Lake] and a bog [Baptist Rd] that were eroding...

    It's Still There

It's an age thing. I used to be stable in my younger years, now not so much and it sucks!!

    It's Still There

Well, that's not unheard of. Just make certain the State, township, etc. whoever owns or has rights to the road still owns it and has not abandoned it. Haines and DeMarco for example have blocked off roads but did so legally by applying to the proper authorities, then that section of road was...

    More Rain This Year????

That's locally known as Chevy pond for the old Chevy car that used to be in it. I also remember the shopping cart, then all the deer carcasses after the Warren Grove fire. Wow, that is some pile of nails!! I wonder if the water course has changed in some way? That pond has been quite low for...

    First tick of the year

I guess I have you beat for time which is not a good thing. Near the middle of Feb on one of the days it was in the upper 40's low 50's I was exploring. On the drive home I felt a tickle on the top of my left hand, sure enough a nymph looking for a place to dig in. I know they're present year...

Bridge at old bog at Clark Branch

Smart decision. You actually made it half way, huh? Maybe in the heat of August with all your gear in a waterproof gear bag......
