Deep Run Lowlands, A PBX Hike

Scott, I'm trying to figure out why I was so wrong at the parking spot. Check this out, is this where your truck was and the way your truck was angled?

Deep Run Lowlands, A PBX Hike

Nice report Guy. That second half was very tough. I'm tired. Some really wild country in there. Good sized cedars in there. Odd that it seem it has not seen fire in many, many years. Chris and Dan (Menantico) below at a nice sized cedar.

    Where is this?

No, that's not it. Those roads are nowhere near as wide as the area in my photo.

1939 WPA Map of New Jersey

You know what I think? It was likely paid for by Federal or State money, so perhaps their copyright was never legal in the first place. Not only that, since you are not profiting from it, the lawsuit would just end up with a cease and desist order. But you do what you think is right.

See if they exist and ask them for permission. What do they care now after 84 years? None of them are around anymore, we can almost guarantee that.

1939 WPA Map of New Jersey

Another snippet from their view of the Jersey Devil back then: :) He has never harmed a soul, nor violated even a local ordinance. There is every reason to believe that his nocturnal ramblings have been actuated by a sympathetic curiosity about the affairs of man. One report is that he is...

1939 WPA Map of New Jersey

The section regarding the Jersey Devil is funny. Here's a snip: Another person who vouches for a view of the devil is Philip Smith, a Negro slaughterhouse worker in Woodstown. Smith, whose reputation for honesty and sobriety is unimpeachable, was looking out the window just before midnight on...

I don't recall ever seeing it. That's a great thing this country did, putting people to work on projects during the depression that likely interested them.

Very cool Boyd. I like the Camp Dix touch. And Merrygold was a real place. I knew it was a branch, but not a place. And, they're right, it's Bamber, and not Bamber Lake.

    interesting old book i found.

Gustav and the plane reminds me of something that really was not a problem 10 years ago when I was 59, but is a definite danger now. I often cross West Bay Avenue during my walks. Now, crossing a busy road when vehicles are traveling 55 mph, it''s shocking how quickly they approach you if you...

Boyd, I have to ask. Did your working in opera lead you to enjoy opera?

Yes, in color. The waters are blue and the elevations are a light rust color in contrast to the buff-colored background.

    interesting old book i found.

I tried it out. Yes, it's off 2k to 3k feet in some of the areas I tried, but that's not a big deal. It's still good for a reference.
