An early winter on the Skit

Willow is a happy 9 1/2 year old. A little bit creeky, but still good for several miles every day. Sometimes she gets stuck in the back of the TJ and needs a boost. Older dogs need more attention like spoting when when going up and down stairs. We make her use her muscles, we are just ready...

    Mannis Duck Pond

Here's how it looked on 12-22-2010 looking south. There is a go around on the right, but the drop off is steep for cars. Note the stump in the foreground.

    Someone's Last Stand

A really creative stand. Here's one I found yesterday. The foot rest reminds me of an old barber chair. The tree. It was near an exceptionally beautiful area. They don't make them like this anymore. I've seen some crazy stuff tacked to trees. Most are falling down.

    Vehicle for traveling sand roads

Get to know the trails you want to drive when it is dry so you can see what the bottoms of those puddles will be like in winter. Walking through puddles with a probing stick is a good way to check for ruts and old stumps. When you do go through a puddle, straddle the tracks of previous drivers...

    Where to buy firewood

A friend of mine bought a "chord" of wood and when it was delivered he thought he was shorted. He called Weights and Measures, they came out and made the seller provide a full chord.

    Mannis Duck Pond

At this intersection the road south to LF is, and has been for years, closed to vehicle traffic, as marked by a painted wooden sign stating " NO MOTOR VEHICLES ...". I saw no sign on the road heading off to the SE toward the Mannis Pond Road...

    Historic Aerials Update

How much do they charge for a picture? When I click "purchase", they want me to create an account. I want to know the prices before I go through registering.

The Cranberry Packing House At Hampton Park

Spectacular find Guy! Now we can seperate the old days of the furnace as Hampton Furnace and the cranberry days as Hampton Park. It looks like the photo was taken from the south looking NNE. To the right of the packing house you can see a long wooden shed whose foundation can be seen today. The...

The Orange Army is In Town

I wouldn't want to be in a stand today. Sunday morning there were 4 travler trailers at the Batona camp, one was over 30 feet. There was lots of wood and large propane bottles around.

    Mannis Duck Pond

I thought I'd let everyone know it is still there. The roads to it from the east and south are good, the west from Hay Road is closed to vehicles now. There was no trash at all!, well except for two ballons. Ed

    Whitesbog Trust Rentals

I have a friend who lived there in the 80's. It was cheap or free because he participated in the cultural events. They got their drinking, bathing and washing water from a water tower there. One day someone had a reason to climb the tower. Upon looking in they found pigeons and other vermin...
