    Woodchuck Hunting

I can vouch for Bevans, their all over down here but always near fields. You don't encounter them back in the woods but always on the edge. All those rules and regs are he main reason I don't hunt anymore. Gotta be a rocket scientist in this state to kill a groundhog or anything else legally.Thats...

    Crayfish

Yes I"m not usually intimidated by Crawdads but this one took my heart. If I could have coralled him into shallow water I coulda bear slapped him out and then had my way with Him but in his own element He was quite fearsome.

    Crayfish

I tried to catch the one in the lake but instead of allowing me to herd him into shallow water where i could smack him out onto dry land he headed for deeper water. He was in about two feet of water when i seen Him.I often will smash the small ones flat with my hand and then reach under and get...

    Crayfish

I personally have seen only one Crawdad in NJ and it was one of the biggest ones i ever saw. This was in laurel lake in the 70"s.I was about 11.Here is some info from a scientist that sent it to me.Apparently there are several species here. Six crayfish have been reported from NJ, four native...

    First Snake Of The Season

That takes a good eye to spot them in vegetation.I find most of mine crossing sand roads.A green vine wiggling across a white sand road tends to attract my attention.

    Calico or Dobbin's Bog

My balance is not nearly as good as it was when i was young.I used to have cat like balance on thin logs.I chalk mine up to the sway of my belly. After two or three swings started by minor differences in ground contours or stepping over something.By the third swing I"m usually on my knees or...

    Calico or Dobbin's Bog

I remember we were about to give up on that top stone when a lucky tap of your stick made a metal on rock tap sound and within seconds the stone was bared to the world.

    It's Still There

The legality of this road closure stands in question. The state owns the land on both sides of it and I would presume the state also owns the road.Apparently the guy who closed it claims Hammonton gave it to him.Whilst in the state forest it also is within the City limits of Hammonton. It is a...

I talked to the woman 21 years ago.Me and Momma wanted to git married and we wanted to git married on the banks of the Nescohague about a quarter mile behind the church.First road to the left past the now closed bridge. We were happy with any where in the barrens but we wanted my Uncle who was a...

    It's Still There

Might be something as simple as knocking over a dead but sound cedar and lashing it between two trees across the creek and then running a rope across higher up for a hand rail.have to find a suitable spot though.

    It's Still There

I imagine there might be a conflict with canoers who object to a lift over. They may trash any bridge low enough to obstruct their progress. Maybe find two trees opposite each other and make a rope bridge with a higher rope to hold onto.Get it up above the canoers?

    It's Still There

Might be worth it to get together some interested folks and build a small footbrige across there since that is apparently the only ay to get anywhere near this area with a vehicle for the forseeable future.
