Mountains, the Devil, and a snake

I went hiking with my son today in the old pits in Chatsworth. Now FPP. The weather was perfect today. We've visited this general area several times before because the dirt mountains (that are there now) are Heaven for a 3 year old with infinite energy. This mud hole was teaming...

a rare perspective on a familar structure

We've all driven over the friendship bridge about a million times but I suspect few have seen it from this angle. Excuse the quality, I was using my "woods" camera. This is looking at the bridge from upstream. east of the bridge looking west. Could you spot the bridge? It is easier...

A recent trip to the Pine Barrens

Welcome to the forum. Nice photos! The last photo looks very familar to me. Of course, we have a tremendous amount of wetlands. Let me just ask, was that last photo taken near route 532? Jeff

Finally, after 275 years, undeniable proof of the dreaded Jersey Devil. Turns out he is much friendly in person than the legend would have us believe!!

They have snapper soup at the half way house in chatsworth. I don't know if it is canned or not. They serve it with sherry. It is pretty good. Jeff

    Bullheads????

Yellow and brown bullheads, I've never seen a black. I've also heard that tadpole madtoms are native but I don't recall seeing one. Where Scott (rednek) said. You can find them in Atsion lake also just off shore in the evening. Presidential lakes used to be loaded with them. Batsto lake...

    Deer are nasty!

Man, that deer went to town on that dog!!! I disagree, I don't think the doe was nasty at all. It had a very young fawn there and was just protecting it. I feel bad for the dog, but it takes alot of guts for a doe to stand up to a dog like that. The doe was less threatened by the cat but...

    Buying up the pines

I've looked into purchasing land in this manner. Most land owners don't respond. I did come real close to buying land in the plains once but the seller wanted too much for it. The seller BTW, was the twp of Barnegat.

    Fishing, again

 Spoons are great for Pickerel but I reserve them for lake use. I hear you Bob. If I'm going with lures it is usually texas rigged plasitics that handle the stumps and weeds great. Jeff

    Fishing, again

It is funny you mention that, Al. I have fished some parts of the tulpe but not specifically where you have mentioned. It has been on my to do list for a long time. I plan on taking the kayak there and making it an all day affair, which requires a bit of preparation which is why I haven't...

    Fishing, again

The fish did okay on the release but did require me to gently pull them backwards a few times to get the oxygen running through their gills. After doing so they took off with plenty of energy. For live bait I actually use kili fish. You are correct about the legality of using blackbanded...

    Fishing, again

Yeah, the bronco is next on my project list so it will be up and running pretty soon, but the short of carrying a kayak, the motorcycle has been serving me well.

    Fishing, again

Well, carrying live bait on a motorcyle can be more trouble than it is worth. As for the bogs, yes I've hit a lot of them. I used to use topo maps to find them but now satilite images have opened up a lot more. Between bogs, streams and oxbows, and a whole lotta woods, by my calculations I...

    Fishing, again

As many of you know, I am always looking for new fishing areas, particularly remote areas. Today I got my gear and headed out on the motorcycle to visit a long lost bog that has surprisingly eluded me all these years. I knew it was there, as it is very close to one of my favorite holes, but I...
