    NJ Trout season opens Saturday

I grew up in Vermont, trout fishing to me was hiking to back country beaver ponds and fishing small brooks that most people would overlook in some beautiful mountain country. This was an all wild brook trout fishery. I would also fish the streams with easier access that the state would stock...

    Attention NJ Forest Fire Service

I walked that area back in the winter right after the did their "work". They really chewed that area up bad. They had the trees painted for weeks before they did any work, I though it was drivelines painted out by deer clubs at first and thought to myself "that is alot of lines", every one was a...

    Brookville's Oyster--A PBX Trip

It was a perfect weather for a PBX trip yesterday. The first half of the hike with the ridges almost felt like the woods in New England. The hike was fairly easy going and ended on a hard note. The last miles or so was very think with tight cedar, hopping hummock to hummock and crawling over...

    Misadventure on a beautiful day

We met up to fish but due to the chilly morning we hit the woods instead. We spent the day in Greenwood scouting for turkey, I pulled a 14E permit now I just have to find the birds. Chris

    Misadventure on a beautiful day

Thats my plans for the day also but we are going to fish the Toms River. Scotts truck walked right through all the nasty spots with zero wheel spin. It can be a real time consuming chore getting a truck unstuck, even more so when they do not have any power. At least you were able to save...

    Atlantic Coastal Plain

Looks like an interesting area. I like the area on the south side of the Webbs Mill Branch. One area is very steep when you come up out of the cedars. The elevation change from the cedars to the top of the 136' hill out there is a fairly quick. Chris

    Late winter fishing

Yes, it was in Greenwood. It is a hard spot to fish. The small places are sometimes the best! Bucky has helped out. I grew up in Vermont cathing brook trout out of beaver ponds, I adapted to cathing pickerel out of beaver ponds in the pines. Chris

I didn't check myself that night. I didn't find any stuck in me the next morning in the shower. That was a unique looking area we hunted, thank you. Chris

    Late winter fishing

I have been told the flourescent works good, I have yet to try it. My friends go to lure for pickerel is a flourescent green and orange rebel. I saw him catch a very large pickerel on it. I'm heading out to fish in a few minutes. I may stop and pick up a flourescent j-7 to try. Chris

    Late winter fishing

With the mild but breezy day on wednesday my friend Russ and I decided to hit the Pines after work to catch our first Pickerel for 2011. Most years I for Pickerel through out the winter with much success, but with the winter we had that was not possible so I was itching to go wet a line...

    Recommend a Shotgun

870's are a great gun. I am partial to Mossberg 835's, I own 2 of them. If you are looking for a first or inexpensive shotgun the New England Firearms/H&R single shot is a good gun, I have one in 20 gauge, you can buy one for a little over a $100.00. Chris
