I've heard less and less carpenters thru the years and it's prob the ph issue. Carpenters...

    PPA Launches "Pinelands Adventures"

It's a curious venture for sure. Would love more details before giving an opinion.

    Diamondback terrapins

Its an odd season since they are hibernating then. I don't know how they harvest them and not sure I want to know. I'm glad they closed this season, the terrapin an awesome turtle and deserves to flourish. Knowing they are being exported to Asia is something that shouldn't be supported at all.

    Millville Holly Orchard

Boyd was this the spot that use to have the metal as a fence around a crappy trailer? Maybe they are just cleaning up all the trash and nonsense they had on the property.

Gotta tip my cap to Ben w for taking care of that eagle, he is braver then me. Regarding interfering I have no problem with it in this scenario. Also we have wrecked our landscape and environment that we have a responsibility to take care of it and also intervene were obvious help is needed...

Pine Barrens community, nonprofit at odds over use of land

Regarding this part of the article, "Residents freely hunted on the 9,400 acres of the Pinelands before the land was bought in 2003 by the New Jersey Conservation Foundation, a nonprofit that preserves land and natural resources. They fished and swam in reservoirs, and rode motorcycles and...

Pine Barrens community, nonprofit at odds over use of land

This is all noise from the mayor who probably has some personal beef. NJCF has done a lot with the land, you would struggle to find a better steward of their land then them. They are also a group willing to work with anyone who has issues or has ideas, from my personal experience. People are...

    Snapper Survey

I can't speak for sure, but I think this is being done because they are exploring how sustainable the practice is. I don't think its an attempt to gain more revenue. I know a biologist who may be leading this and it is indeed an attempt at sound science followed by decisions. Asian countries...

    Snapper Survey

Other than trapping and roadkills they have zero predators. They rely on a long life (nobody knows how long they can live) to produce enough to carry on the population. They are slow to sexual maturity so to me excessive trapping would wreck a population. Unfortunately they have only just...

Atlantic County tax increase would bail out casinos

Its still a hangover from the financial crisis. People are still hurting financially in the area. The wealth affect of the rising stock market over the last 2 years has provided people the feeling of some more wealth but much of it is non liquid and simply a number on a statement. The...

Atlantic County tax increase would bail out casinos

Economy has changed too much for Atlantic City to exist going forward. The casinos are fueled by retired folk pissing their social security and pensions away. Pensions and some day social security won't exist, because stock market growth isn't sufficient to justify offering them and SS is a...

"Swamp Brothers" TV Show People Caught Poaching Pine Snakes

I certainly don't want to dismiss the efforts of LE either. They do their best but are limited by lack of funds and proper support. But the barrens is a big place with lots of areas to watch, this community here does a damn good job of keeping watch. I sorta like the vigilante aspect though...

"Swamp Brothers" TV Show People Caught Poaching Pine Snakes

I think this occurred prior to their dumb show. The show didn't last long mostly because it wasn't interesting. There is nothing interesting about Glades herps and them breeding and wild collecting crap, bunch of carnies. Might be something else coming out soon regarding another guy in...

"Swamp Brothers" TV Show People Caught Poaching Pine Snakes

Thanks for posting this. These guys are huge losers and if you watched their show you realized how big a POS they were. I was told of these jokers coming up to the pine barrens when I first started going to the area. I bought cameras and watched the area where this kingsnake was taken with...

New Frog Popping Up In New Places in Jersey

Prior to this outside of one gigantic breeding mass (literally several 100) I had only seen maybe a handful. Everyone in Medford has them all over the place. My yard is quite good when it comes to reptiles and amphibians, so far without looking I've seen, black rat, racer, ringneck, worm...
