    Pine Barrens Beer

How about making it with water from one of the rivers. I remember making coffee from the Wading River and it was quite interesting.

    Friendship today

I wanted to come and meet the gang but it was Marianne's weekend and she wanted to hike. I am free on weekdays if your up for wings. :) I had a really nice hike on Friday morning as well. The snow was powder and not deep so I was in my sneekers. We, Buffy and Willow, hiked the Tuckerton Stage...

    Friendship today

It was cold and everything was solid. We saw only an occasional bird or mouse track. The drive out there was better than I expected. The bridge at Friendship is completely covered in graffitti.

    Trapped in Snow: GPS Blamed

We have Onstar and I am constantly dissapointed in the routes it picks. It has no local knowledge and frankly makes dumb decisions. I make my on routes using Google Earth coordinates and enter them into my 60CS. That also ensures that I've paid attention to my trip.

Oyster Creek Power Plant cooling tower

The ocean sucks alot more water in AND out of the bay than that twice a day. Ocean water usually at a cooler temperature and also affects the bays salinity. The effects I've seen at Oyster Creek have been enhanced fishing.

    Flood paddle

Gabe, you are a lucky man! We almost went out that week but I looked at the Skit and remembered getting tossed from bank to bank. In the summer maybe but not in winter. It's too easy to get pinned against something by the current and then start shipping water. We may go today though. How...

    Check your basement

I have a Little Giant pump which I bought at Leslies Pools which is submersible and pumps down to 1/8 inch. It senses water and turns on when needed and turns off when done. No need to baby sit...

    After The Snow Is Gone

On Sunday morning we headed down Carranza Road. The water at the bridge at Hampton Gate was trying to run over the road way, today it's down consideribly. I've only seen it worse after the 1000 year flood. Yesterday we went to hike Push Line via Tuckerton Road from High Crossing, lots of deep...

    Abandoned guinea pig at Carranza

Thank you all for your concern and support. Miss Piggy, yes it's a girl, is doing very well and seems no worse for her ordeal. She has a good appetite and likes carrots, lettus, timothy hay, oranges, dog kibble but not tomatoes. She is easy to handle and is quite at home, and to our delight...

    Abandoned guinea pig at Carranza

We finally got out for a walk at Carranza at 1 PM today. Right before the first entrance to the lot we saw this little guy abandoned in the snow. It was scared and wouldn't leave it's shavings. We got it home in spite of having a terrier and Great Dane in the Wrangler. It is eating and drinking...

    Custard Stand

There has been a building there since 1956. I don't know if it was a custard stand then but probably a snack bar of sorts. I have an 1989 phamplet called "Historic Tabernacle A Pictorial Tour", but it's not in there. I wish the Historical Society would put together a book like they did in...

    Snow ??

I enjoy scrapple too, I just try to not look at it too closely! I was brought up with the saying " don't eat anything you don't recognize". The tradition at our house on a snowy morning is corned beef hash. It gives me lots of long lasting energy to shovel and plow. When I get cold and wet I...

    Some Info

I hike and drive by that tract frequently, I've even tried the road into it and it wasn't inviting. I didn't know it was private and there wasn't any indication of it being so. It doesn't look used, it is low and in the old areials it seems to have been farmed. I don't know why someone would pay...
