Your first digital pictures of the Pines

    Is this a boat???

I wonder if it could be a stand up paddle board. Maybe trying it out in a safe spot.

    Is this a boat???

I've been in there surveying for plants. Only a foot or so deep at most. This photo is from a wet season, most times you can jump from hummock to hummock and/or wade right through it in boots.

    Gas Price

Al, the one pipeline you are likely speaking of was never built, but the oil is still there in the ground. It belongs to Canada. By the way, what are you talking about, this Russia getting rid of some "bio weapons labs" close to the border? Oh wait, I just found the line on that debunked...

An invasive species now has a new name to replace ethnic slur

I'm very offended that otherkins would self-identify as sponges instead of Gypsy moths.

An invasive species now has a new name to replace ethnic slur

That's not a person, it's a moth. I don't think they mind. In the news, it's said that "The name “spongy moth” was chosen because the egg masses look like rough-textured, brown sea sponges." That is also dumb to call the moth by the texture of their eggs. This whole thing is misguided in my...

An invasive species now has a new name to replace ethnic slur

From now on, I'm going to call it the Gypsy Moth.

Maple syrup production ramps up in the Pine Barrens of NJ

I think I heard once that Swamp Maple (Acer rubrum) could produce sap, but the season would be too short to utilize it.

    Cougar in the Pines?

If she had it on her cell phone, I'd considered an escapee. Because it happened so fast that she could not photograph it, I have doubts.

    Only the wealthy need apply

This is the one I bought for my son when he was like 17, 21 years ago. I paid $800 I think. I loved driving it because it almost felt like you were wearing it, so comfortable and feeling you are in great control. I may have posted this photo before, not sure.

    Only the wealthy need apply

I wonder if the actual hands-on craftsmen of those vehicles would weep if they saw them being run down a very narrow sand road in the pine plains after a hot fire, or stuck in one of our infamous clay wallows after heavy rains. If I paid that kind of money, I wouldn't do that to them, but...

    Nash's Cabin 2022

Ben, I'm sure you liked it even though you are out of shape. Don't be discouraged, keep up the walking. It only gets better for you physically. When we are not active, we deteriorate fast. Keep moving or your life will be shortened.

    Parcel data still exists.

Interesting Al. Did you do the free trial? I'd like to see how complete the data is on parcel ownership.

    Where is this?

Yes, that was your first time in that area.

    Where is this?

Yes, Al, it was one of those spur of the moment pbx short explorations exactly where you said. I can't remember the exact spot either, but I think I'm real close at the red circle below. I'm not even sure if these are the right tracks, but I made this image a couple days later. I just checked...

History Short of the Varnum Family of Atco

Hmmm, you learn something new every day. You've got me reading some things, and I'd never heard this before. I paraphrased it: "Samoset was an Abenaki sagamore and the first Native American to make contact with the Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony. He startled the colonists on March 16, 1621, by...
